Mangaluru, Nov 29: The NSS unit of Srinivas University organised a Student Development Programme on the occasion of Constitution Day, observed on November 26 at the Srinivas Institute of Allied Health Sciences (SIAHS), Mangaluru. The event was marked by enthusiastic participation and a strong sense of patriotism as students, faculty, and staff came together to celebrate Samvidhan Divas and reflect on the enduring values of the Indian Constitution.
The programme began with a warm welcome address by Prof Pavana Krishnamoothy, dean, who emphasised the significance of the day and paid tribute to Dr B R Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution. She highlighted the importance of constitutional values in shaping responsible citizenship.





A guest lecture was delivered by Prof Shrinath Rao K, associate professor, department of civil engineering, who spoke on the relevance of the Indian Constitution in contemporary society. He elaborated on the role of constitutional principles in safeguarding democracy and guiding national development.
One of the major highlights of the celebration was the collective reading of the Preamble. Students, faculty, and staff recited it in unison, reaffirming their commitment to justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity — the guiding pillars of India’s democratic framework.
The programme was organised with the objective of commemorating the adoption of the Constitution on November 26, 1949, and to create deeper awareness among students about its history, significance, and core values. It also aimed to promote understanding of fundamental rights and duties and encourage respect for democratic principles. Students were motivated to participate in educational and creative activities such as speeches, quizzes, and poster presentations, fostering constitutional literacy and pride in India’s democratic heritage.
The event resulted in enhanced constitutional awareness among students, helping them better understand the relevance of the Constitution in everyday life. The activities promoted civic responsibility by encouraging reflection on Fundamental Duties, while also improving participation and engagement. Students actively took part in discussions and presentations, showcasing increased confidence and knowledge.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Anjally Devasia, head of IAHS student development & support, who appreciated the organisers and participants for making the celebration meaningful and impactful. She highlighted how the programme successfully instilled national pride and reinforced the importance of upholding constitutional values.
Students shared positive feedback, expressing that the programme was highly informative and engaging. They appreciated the interactive sessions, competitions, and activities, which strengthened their understanding of fundamental rights and duties. The event also helped enhance creativity, critical thinking, and civic awareness, contributing significantly to their sense of national responsibility.
