Mangalore, Feb 21: Former district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar has returned to the city for the first time after facing hard times in relation to getting linked with a scandal involving watching of porn video clip in the assembly. He had to pay a heavy price relating to this scandal, as the incident, which occurred during the assembly session, received nationwide attention, after the visual media beamed video of watching the video clips by two ministers when the assembly session was in progress.
The ministers had alleged that the video clip had originally been received in Palemar’s cell phone, and all the three ministers had to quit their posts as a result.
Speaking to media persons on his maiden visit to home city after the scandal, Palemar asserted that he was not guilty, and that he had done nothing wrong. He exuded confidence that the house committee formed to investigate the case will exonerate him of the allegations.
“For me, the trust reposed by the people of my home district is of paramount significance. I do not need any other character certificate. The people here have gone through suffering when I was going through crisis. I can never lose their trust. None of the politicians from Dakshina Kannada district, which is known for high principles and fine culture, can indulge in ignoble activities. I am aware about the dignity of the assembly and have always upheld high values. At the same time, I am pained to see that the media, which was quick to level charges against me, did not take care to properly verify the facts before indulging in vilification campaign,” he said.
Palemar said that the high command of the party and leaders of the government are on his side at this time of crisis. “I believe I had to face infamy because of bad times. I am confident that I will come out clean from this episode. I would prefer to restrain myself from speaking more about this incident till the house committee comes out with its report,” the minister explained.
