Bhopal, Dec 24: More than 42.74 lakh voter names, accounting for nearly 7 per cent of the total 5.74 crore electorate, have been deleted from the draft electoral rolls of all 230 Assembly constituencies in Madhya Pradesh following the completion of the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) on Tuesday.
According to election officials, a total of 42,74,160 names were removed from the draft rolls, while another 8,65,832 voters were marked as ‘unmapped’ as their parents’ or grandparents’ details could not be traced in the SIR 2003 voter list.

The unmapped voters will be issued notices and given one week’s time to appear in person before election authorities with any one of the 13 prescribed documents to establish their eligibility. Their names will be considered for inclusion in the final electoral roll, which is scheduled to be published on February 21, 2026.
Of the voters removed from the rolls, 19.19 lakh were men and 23.64 lakh were women, officials said.
Chief Electoral Officer of Madhya Pradesh, S K Jha, said that among the 42.74 lakh voters excluded from the first draft after the SIR exercise, 31.51 lakh, or about 73 per cent, were found to have shifted residence or were not traceable. Another 8.46 lakh voters, accounting for 20 per cent, were identified as deceased, while 2.77 lakh, or 6 per cent, were duplicate entries.
Election officials said the revision exercise was aimed at ensuring a clean, accurate and up-to-date voter list ahead of future elections, and urged eligible voters to verify their details within the stipulated time.
