Mangaluru, Jan 12: A case has been registered against four persons for allegedly assaulting a migrant worker after accusing him of being a Bangladeshi national. The incident has been reported from the limits of the Kavoor police station.

The accused have been identified as Sagar, Dhanush, Lalu alias Rathish, and Mohan, all residents of Kulur.

The victim, Diljan Ansari, a native of Jharkhand, has been living as a migrant worker for the past 10 to 15 years. According to the complaint, the four local residents repeatedly accused him of being a Bangladeshi national and subjected him to physical assault and mental harassment. Despite Ansari clarifying that he hails from Jharkhand, the accused allegedly refused to listen and continued to harass him, demanding that he produce documents to prove his identity.

He was further assaulted using his own equipment, during which he was struck on the head, causing him to bleed profusely. At this critical moment, a local woman intervened and rescued him from the attackers, preventing further harm.

It is alleged that due to fear of the accused, Diljan Ansari initially hesitated to approach the police despite being subjected to assault and mental trauma.

The incident was later brought to the notice of the police by some local leaders, following which the authorities took action.

In connection with the incident, a case under Section 307 has been registered against all four accused. All the accused have been identified, and instructions have been issued to arrest them immediately.
