Multiple firing incidents rock Delhi amid gangster threats

Delhi, Jan 13: Three separate firing incidents, allegedly linked to gangsters, rattled different parts of Delhi during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, raising concerns over coordinated extortion attempts.

The Delhi Police are probing a possible connection between attacks targeting a gym in Paschim Vihar, a residence in Vinod Nagar, and a house in Green Park Extension. Authorities are investigating whether the same assailants or handlers orchestrated the incidents.

The first attack occurred at a Paschim Vihar gym, where two motorcycle-borne men fired two rounds. No injuries were reported, but a social media post claiming responsibility surfaced, allegedly by an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, warning the gym owner of a fate similar to that of a previously murdered co-owner.

Around midnight, two men fired three to four rounds in the air outside property dealer Jitender Gupta’s residence in Vinod Nagar. An audio clip, purportedly from the Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility and renewed threats over alleged unpaid extortion money. Gupta had reportedly received previous threats in September and December 2025.

The third incident occurred around 1 am at a house in Green Park Extension, where CCTV captured a person firing at the property before fleeing on a motorcycle. Police are mapping escape routes to identify patterns across all three incidents.

Senior officials said multiple teams have been deployed to verify the authenticity of social media posts, trace the shooters, and ensure security, emphasizing that investigations are ongoing.
