ECI extends deadline for Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in five states and UTs

Daijiworld Media Network – New Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 16: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Goa, Lakshadweep, Rajasthan, Puducherry, and West Bengal till January 19, 2026.

With this extension, eligible voters in these states and Union Territories can now file claims for inclusion, make corrections, or raise objections in the electoral rolls until the new deadline.

In a communication to the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of the concerned states and UTs, the ECI stated that the revised schedule has been decided after considering requests from the respective CEOs along with other relevant factors.

The Commission has also directed the CEOs to ensure widespread publicity of the extended deadline so that all electors are aware of the opportunity to participate in updating the electoral rolls.
