Amritsar, Jan 16: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on Thursday strongly condemned the alleged derogatory remarks made by former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi against the Sikh Gurus, and resolved to initiate strict action against her.
The condemnation resolution was passed during a meeting of the SGPC executive committee. SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the use of objectionable language against Sikh Gurus by an elected representative, especially during an ongoing session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, has deeply hurt Sikh sentiments.

Dhami stated that the SGPC would pursue legal action against the AAP leader, describing her remarks as reflective of a “deplorable mindset” that cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
During the meeting, Dhami also strongly criticised a recent incident involving a youth who violated Maryada (code of conduct) in the sacred Sarovar of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple). He emphasised that the Golden Temple follows a sacred Maryada and any act against it causes deep anguish to the Sikh community.
He appealed to devotees of all faiths to strictly adhere to the established Maryada while paying obeisance at the Golden Temple, stressing that respect for religious sanctity is essential.
The SGPC executive committee also lauded the achievements of six students from the Nishchay Administrative Services Training Academy, who successfully cleared the preliminary PCS examination. Appreciation was extended to a student of the Nishchay Academy of Judicial Services, Bahadurgarh, Patiala, for clearing the Law Officer examination conducted by the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board.
Dhami said the SGPC has consistently worked to ensure that Sikh students excel in competitive examinations and reach influential positions, enabling them to serve society in accordance with the teachings and principles of the Sikh Gurus.
The meeting also discussed routine administrative matters related to the SGPC, Gurdwara Sahibs, the Trust Department and other affiliated departments.
