Patna, Feb 13: Public outrage surged in Patna on Friday following the suspicious death of a 17-year-old girl preparing for the NEET examination, intensifying tensions after a recent similar incident in the city. Angry locals staged a road blockade near the AIIMS roundabout, leading to massive traffic snarls and long vehicle queues. Reports of minor arson also emerged before police intervened to restore order.
Former MLA Gopal Ravidas visited the victim’s family, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused within 24 hours and calling for a judicial inquiry into the incident. Criticizing the Special Investigation Team (SIT), he questioned the public’s trust in the Bihar Police and highlighted growing concerns over student safety.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Patna, Kartikeya Kumar Sharma, personally visited the site, issuing instructions to the investigating teams. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and gathering technical evidence, while additional forces maintain heightened security in the area.
The incident occurred Thursday morning at a coaching institute in Phulwari Sharif, where the girl reportedly fell from the fourth floor.
Family members allege she was murdered, citing multiple injuries on the body. Authorities have sent the body to AIIMS Patna for a post-mortem conducted under a medical board, with the report expected within three to four days.
The tragedy has reignited concerns over the safety of students at coaching centers and intensified calls for accountability and judicial oversight in such cases.
