Saharanpur, Feb 15: A young man was chased and brutally attacked by three masked assailants in broad daylight in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur, with CCTV footage showing the attackers striking him at least 14 times within a span of 7 to 8 seconds.

According to police, the victim, identified as Gaurav, an electrician working at the railway yard, was intercepted on February 11 while returning home after duty. The three accused were allegedly lying in wait and launched the assault as soon as they caught up with him on the road.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area, and the footage has since gone viral on social media.

The video shows Gaurav walking normally when three masked men approach him from behind and from the side. The attackers suddenly pounce on him, knocking him to the ground before repeatedly assaulting him in quick succession. After the brief but intense attack, the accused are seen fleeing from the spot.

Following the incident and the victim’s complaint, police examined CCTV footage from the locality. However, the identity of the attackers and the motive behind the assault have not yet been established.

Senior police officer Vyom Bindal told India Today over the phone that an investigation is underway based on the written complaint. He said efforts are being made to identify the accused with the help of CCTV footage and that appropriate action will be taken accordingly.

The viral video has triggered concern among residents, who expressed shock over the brazen daylight attack in the area.
