New Delhi, Feb 16: The Delhi Assembly’s Committee of Privileges has set March 6 as the final date for former Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and other party leaders to appear in person and provide statements regarding the ‘Faansi Ghar’ matter, officials said.

Kejriwal had requested a hearing during the first week of March, prompting the Committee to accommodate the timeline. Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, former Speaker Ram Niwas Goel, and former Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla also submitted similar requests for a brief extension. The Committee decided on a single, final date to prevent further delays in the inquiry.

The issue, initially raised by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, pertains to the authenticity of the ‘Faansi Ghar’ inaugurated within the Legislative Assembly premises on August 9, 2022. The Committee was tasked with examining the matter to establish factual and procedural clarity.

The Privileges Committee includes Chairperson Pradyumn Singh Rajput, along with members Surya Prakash Khatri, Abhay Kumar Verma, Ajay Kumar Mahawar, Satish Upadhyay, Neeraj Basoya, Ravi Kant, Ram Singh Netaji, and Surender Kumar.

In its Monday meeting, the Committee reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity, emphasizing that full cooperation from all concerned parties is essential for conducting a fair and comprehensive inquiry.
