Mumbai, Feb 23: Authorities seized suspected charas worth nearly Rs 14 crore after discovering an unclaimed bag aboard the Awadh Express at Bandra Terminus early Sunday morning, officials said.

The train reached the platform at around 4:20 a.m., when railway staff noticed a heavy black bag left unattended inside one of the coaches. On inspection, officials found clothes along with several brown tape-wrapped packets, prompting suspicion of narcotics.

Acting under CCTV surveillance, authorities opened the bag and recovered 31 brown tape-sealed packets containing a black, shiny substance believed to be charas. Two shirts and a pair of jeans were also found inside.

The total weight of the seized contraband was approximately 14 kilograms. Further investigation is underway to identify the person responsible for the consignment and trace its source and intended destination.
