Navi Mumbai, Feb 27: A major fire broke out at the Turbhe dumping ground in the early hours of Friday, sending thick plumes of smoke billowing across several parts of Navi Mumbai.
According to a report in Loksatta, the blaze was reported around 5 am, following which firefighting teams were immediately rushed to the spot. A large pile of ashes is said to have caught fire, intensifying the smoke in the vicinity.

Fire brigades from Nerul, Koparkhairane, Airoli, Vashi, Belapur, along with teams from the MIDC department, are engaged in operations to bring the flames under control. Officials from the Vashi fire brigade confirmed that efforts to douse the fire are currently underway.
No casualties have been reported so far. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
