Latur, Mar 5: A woman has been taken into police custody in Maharashtra’s Latur district after her husband died following a heated argument at their home, officials said on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old Sikandar Sidram Rathod. According to police, Rathod was addicted to alcohol, which often led to frequent quarrels between him and his wife, Kamalbai.
Authorities said the incident occurred on Tuesday evening when Rathod allegedly returned home in an intoxicated condition. This reportedly triggered another confrontation between the couple, which soon escalated into a physical altercation.

During the scuffle, Rathod is believed to have fallen and suffered a head injury. Police said he was also struck in the chest during the argument, after which he collapsed and lost consciousness.
Kamalbai immediately took her husband to the Government Hospital in Latur for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police have registered a case against the woman under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. She has been arrested, and further investigation into the incident is currently in progress, officials said.
