Patna, Mar 8: Nishant Kumar, son of Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, formally joined the Janata Dal (United) (JD-U) at the party headquarters in Patna on Sunday, marking his official entry into state politics.
Nishant, who had remained away from active politics for a long period, made his political debut a few days after his father filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha.

The 50-year-old leader joined the party by taking its primary membership from Sanjay Jha, the National Working President of JD(U). His induction ceremony was attended by several senior party leaders, including Union Minister Lalan Singh and Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Chaudhary, along with party workers and supporters.
However, Nitish Kumar was not present at the party headquarters during his son’s induction.
With Nishant Kumar’s formal entry into JD(U), political observers have begun speculating about a possible generational transition within the party and a stronger focus on youth-oriented policies in the future.
As Nishant arrived at the party office, supporters welcomed him with slogans such as “Yuva Soch, Majboot Sankalp” (Think young with strong determination), reflecting enthusiasm among party workers over his entry into active politics.
