Udupi: Entrepreneur, Social Worker P Rabindra Nayak (90) to be Honoured

Udupi, Mar 4: Well-known transporter and entrepreneur, P Rabindra Nayak, who is always driven by social concerns, is being feted on the occasion of his attaining 90 years of age. The occasion will be utilized to honour the nonagenarian for the excellent service he has rendered to the society in general.

A felicitation committee titled, ‘P Rabindra Nayak Abhivandana Samiti’, has been set up for the purpose with Prof K R Hande as its president. The felicitation programme, to be held on March 10 at Muddana Mantapa of MGM College here at 5.30 pm on March 10, will be presided over by Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade. Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejavar Mutt will deliver benedictory address. On the occasion, a congratulatory book being brought on the life and achievements of P Rabindra Nayak will be released by Nadoja Dr G Shankar, while K M Udupa and Ambatanaya Mudrady will be delivering felicitation addresses.

A day-long programme being organized for the purpose will be inaugurated by trustee of Ambalpady temple, Dr Ni B Vijay Ballal, at 10 am that day at the same venue. Honorary director of MIC Manipal, Dr M V Kamath, will preside. Dr H Shanataram will participate in the programme as guest. An exhibition of rare photographs of Rabindra Nayak being arranged on this context will be inaugurated by entrepreneur, Pramod Madhwaraj.

This will be followed by a session on the subject, ‘contribution of private transporters to undivided Dakshina Kannada district’, in which Aroor Kishore Rao, P D Shenoy, and Dr K V M Varambally will be presenting their essays. Dr N K Tingalaya will function as the coordinator.  U R Sabhapathy, Prof Udyavar Madhava Acharya, Dr P V Bhandary, Dr N A Madhyastha, Damodar Aithal, and others will speak about different social dimensions of Nayak at a seminar to be held in the afternoon. In this programme, Gujjadi Prabhakar Nayak will function as the moderator.

On the occasion, light music by Chandrashekhar Kedlaya, H N Nataraj and troupe, has been arranged from 9.30 am to 10 am. Students of Poornaprajna College will present a Yakshagana dance drama, ‘Jatayu Moksha’. Rabindra Nayak will be brought  to  Muddana Mantapa in a grand procession from Madhava Raksha in M G M College at 5 pm. Fans of Nayak will be allowed to garland this great leader.

This information was given by general secretary of the felicitation committee, H Krishna Bhat, at a press conference held at Press Club here on Saturday March 3. Secretaries of the committee, Murali Kadekar, S V Bhat, and K Ganesh Rao, were present.

    Sir, it was really a pleasure to read the news on Daiji World about yourself and your support on social responsibility. Today i hope your vision as a entrepreneur to provide employment to the poor and needy is a land mark achievement in the history of Dakshina Kannda and Udupi Districts.
