Mathura, Mar 12: A woman in Mathura who was initially believed to have died of a heart attack was later found to have been murdered allegedly by her daughter-in-law and her lover, police said.

The incident took place in Bhankarpur Basela village in the district. The truth came to light after the deceased woman’s husband grew suspicious about the circumstances surrounding her sudden death and approached the police.

Acting on his complaint, authorities ordered the exhumation of the body on the directions of the District Magistrate. A post-mortem examination later confirmed that the victim had died due to a broken neck, indicating foul play.

Following the findings, police registered a murder case and arrested the daughter-in-law along with her alleged lover, identified as Adil.

According to police investigations, Adil had arrived at the house around 1 am on March 3. The elderly woman reportedly found her daughter-in-law in an objectionable position with him.

Fearing exposure, the duo allegedly planned to kill her. Police said the victim was smothered with a pillow during the night.

Around 3 am, the daughter-in-law called her husband and claimed that his mother had suffered a heart attack. The family subsequently buried the woman without suspecting any foul play.

However, days later the victim’s husband became suspicious and informed the police, which led to the body being exhumed and the murder coming to light.

Police said further investigation is underway to determine the full sequence of events in the case.

Very sad.Why victims husband was not there as she died and didnt notice? In India thats the big mistake of performing the last rites of a dead person without even inquiring or doctors certificate of cause of the death. In wester countries it is a must for every dead person either in hospital or at home.Noone will burry or do last rites without it.God knows how many i India lost their lives in hands of husband or lovers or someone killing for the sake of money property,or like this case.May her soul rest in peace .Heartfelt sympathies to her husband.
