New Delhi, Mar 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday on key aspects of the ongoing war in West Asia and its implications for India’s energy security, according to reports.
The development comes a day after the prime minister spoke in the Lok Sabha during the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament, where he described the situation in West Asia as “worrisome.”
Addressing the Lower House on Monday, Modi said the Union government has made adequate arrangements to ensure fertiliser availability despite concerns over imports due to the conflict. He asserted that the government has never “allowed the burden of global crises to fall on farmers.”

His remarks come amid escalating tensions in West Asia that have disrupted key maritime corridors and raised concerns over the safety of Indian nationals in Gulf countries.
Modi also outlined India’s diplomatic approach to the evolving crisis, highlighting concerns over regional stability and its impact on global energy and trade routes. This marked his first address in the Lok Sabha during the ongoing Budget Session.
Noting that the crisis has persisted for over three weeks, the prime minister said it is adversely affecting the global economy and people’s lives, with nations across the world calling for an early resolution.
On energy supplies, he pointed out that significant quantities of crude oil, gas, fertilisers and other essentials reach India through the Strait of Hormuz, adding that shipping through the vital route has become increasingly challenging due to the conflict.
