Mamata accuses BJP of fuelling divisions, rejects Shah’s ‘chargesheet’

Paschim Medinipur, Mar 30: Mamata Banerjee on Monday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of fuelling divisions among communities and attempting to exploit the situation for political gains.

Addressing a poll rally in Paschim Medinipur, the Trinamool Congress supremo also objected to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s political “chargesheet” against the TMC government.

“The first chargesheet should be filed against Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, who came to power by stoking riots,” she said.

Alleging that the BJP was creating unrest, Banerjee said the party was instigating conflict among various sections of society. “It wants to loot the country, taking advantage of the situation evolving from such strife,” she claimed.

She further accused the BJP of attempting to create divisions between communities, including Hindus and Muslims, as well as within administrative and police services.

The chief minister also alleged that several government officials, including civil servants who had earlier performed efficiently, were now facing humiliation.

Reiterating her earlier charge, Banerjee claimed that senior officers were being “arbitrarily” transferred to poll-bound states by the Election Commission at the BJP’s behest, terming it “political interference of the highest order.”
