Bulverde, Mar 31: A 15-year-old student opened fire on a teacher at a school campus near San Antonio on Monday before fatally shooting himself, authorities said.

The incident occurred at Hill Country College Preparatory High School, located in Bulverde, Texas, according to the Comal County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said the female teacher was rushed to a hospital in San Antonio. Her current condition has not yet been disclosed. The student was found dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Comal County Sheriff Mark Reynolds said at a press briefing that it was too early to determine the motive behind the shooting or whether any warning signs were present prior to the incident.

He added that the school was immediately placed under lockdown as law enforcement secured the campus. Students were later moved to a nearby middle school and reunited with their parents.

Authorities also confirmed that investigators will be speaking with the suspect’s parents as part of the ongoing probe into how the teenager obtained the firearm and what led to the attack.

Officials said the campus remains under security presence as the investigation continues.
