Nashik, Apr 4: In a tragic incident, nine members of a single family, including six children, lost their lives after their car plunged into a water-filled well in Nashik district late Friday night.
The accident occurred around 11.30 pm in Dindori taluka, nearly 40 km from Nashik city, when the family was returning home after attending an annual function.

According to officials, the victims, residents of Indore village, had attended a social event at Shivajinagar. While returning, the car driven by Sunil Dattatreya Dargode (34) reportedly went out of control, veered off the road, and fell into a nearby well filled with water.
Rescue operations were immediately launched involving police, fire brigade, local ???????, disaster management teams, and later personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). However, the operation was hampered as the well was completely filled with water, making it difficult to retrieve the vehicle.
After several hours, the car was pulled out using cranes, and nine bodies were recovered. A separate search was also carried out for another girl who was reportedly thrown out of the vehicle during the fall and submerged in the well.
The deceased include Sunil Dattatreya Dargode, his wife Reshma (30), their daughter Rakhi alias Gunvanti (10), and nieces Madhuri (13) and Shravani (11). Also among the victims were Asha Anil Dargode (32), her son Shreyash (11), daughter Srishti (14), and niece Samruddhi (7).
All the victims belonged to the same extended family, deepening the tragedy.
Eyewitnesses described emotional scenes at the site as rescue teams recovered the bodies late into the night. Several children were still dressed in costumes worn for the function, leaving locals and rescuers in shock.
Police at Dindori Police Station have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Preliminary reports suggest that the accident may have occurred due to the driver losing control of the vehicle. Further details are awaited.
