Patna, Apr 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new government in Bihar on April 15, sources said.
The Prime Minister is likely to arrive in Patna on the night of April 14 and stay overnight. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to be held at Raj Bhavan, Lok Bhawan premises.
Ahead of the event, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) have convened crucial legislature party meetings.

The BJP will hold its meeting at 2 pm at the state party office in the presence of Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who has been appointed as the central observer to oversee the selection of the party’s legislative leader. This will be followed by a joint NDA legislature party meeting later in the day.
Simultaneously, the JD(U) will conduct its meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence at 1 Anne Marg, where MLAs will elect their legislative leader in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and senior leaders.
Senior BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has emerged as the frontrunner for the top post, with sources indicating that his elevation is nearly final, though an official announcement is awaited.
Choudhary, who hails from the influential Koeri OBC community, was appointed state BJP president in 2023 and became Deputy Chief Minister after the NDA returned to power following Nitish Kumar’s re-entry into the alliance.
NDA legislators have been asked to remain in Patna for the next two days as key decisions are finalised, including the formal election of the alliance leader, paving the way for government formation in the state.
