Patna, May 2: In a strong move to upgrade the city’s road infrastructure, Road Construction Department Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal carried out detailed inspections of major roads and flyovers across Patna, focusing on improving travel quality and easing congestion.

Key routes such as JP Ganga Path, Atal Path, and Patli Path were reviewed for surface conditions, technical flaws, and traffic bottlenecks. The Secretary made it clear that lapses in maintenance would not be accepted and set firm deadlines for repairs.

On Nehru Path, officials have been asked to fix the main carriageway within 15 days. Meanwhile, urgent repairs have been ordered within three days for problem areas near Shivpuri Flyover, Digha Flyover, and Digha Rotary, with warnings of strict action if delays occur.

Along the stretch of JP Ganga Path between Digha and Didarganj, multiple issues were flagged. The sunken slab near Kurji Bridge was found to be in poor condition, and repairs have been mandated within 10 days to ensure safer and smoother travel along this vital riverfront route.

On Patli Path, deterioration in expansion joints and the road surface prompted instructions for a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) within three days. Authorities have also been directed to fast-track maintenance work from the AIIMS Roundabout Patna to the JP Setu approach road.

To tackle persistent traffic congestion near Raja Bazar Flyover, a series of measures have been proposed. These include coordinated efforts for tree removal near junctions, possible relocation of a temple (pending approval), removal of bus stops and roadside obstructions, clearing encroachments at Ashiana Mor, and initiating land acquisition for road widening.

Congestion issues between R-Block Patna and the Patna Junction railway station roundabout were also highlighted, with emphasis on developing a long-term solution.

Reaffirming the department’s commitment, Pal stressed that delivering high-quality roads remains a top priority. Engineers have been instructed to adhere strictly to deadlines, ensuring minimal inconvenience to the public while improving road safety and traffic flow across the city.
