Raigad, May 11: Jitendra Patil has abruptly resigned as the Raigad district president of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, triggering widespread speculation within political circles.
Though the exact reason behind his resignation remains unclear, discussions are rife that Patil was allegedly asked by the party leadership to step down from the post.
Attempts by media persons to contact Patil reportedly remained unsuccessful.

Sources said Patil had been serving as the Raigad district president of MNS for the past ten years and had actively led several agitations and protests as directed by the party.
He was also known for raising issues concerning workers and fighting for the rights of Marathi-speaking people in the region.
Patil’s work in labour-related matters had earned attention particularly because of his role as a prominent railway workers’ union leader.
Political observers said his sudden resignation despite his active organisational role has led to intense discussions within party circles.
Sources further claimed that the party leadership had reportedly conveyed to Patil a few days ago that he should resign from the district president’s post.
