Mangaluru, May 20: The city has responded to the nationwide shutdown call of medical shops issued by the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists, with private medical shops remaining closed across the city.

However, MedPlus, Apollo, Jan Aushadhi outlets, and medical stores attached to hospitals continued their operations in the city.

There are more than 1,100 medical shops across the district, and medical shop owners participated in the shutdown protest following the bandh call.

The protest has been organised across the country against the alleged illegal sale of medicines through online e-pharmacies and quick commerce apps.
