Beltangady, May 21: Based on a complaint filed by Nasiruddin P Bin Sufi Beary (36), a resident of Gerukatte in Beltangady, police have registered a UDR case in connection with the death of his brother, allegedly due to medical negligence.

According to the complaint, on the night of May 14, the complainant’s brother, Mohammed Shareef P (35), sustained injuries after being gored by a bull at his house. He was admitted to Surya Hospital in Uppinangady for treatment.

The complainant alleged that the doctors at the hospital treated the patient negligently, resulting in a deterioration of Mohammed Shareef’s health condition. Subsequently, on May 16, he was shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment. However, despite treatment, Mohammed Shareef succumbed on May 20.

Based on the complaint, Beltangady police have registered a case under UDR No. 28/2026 under Section 194(3)(iv) of the BNSS, 2023, and an investigation is underway.

In connection with the case, correspondence has been initiated with the concerned department seeking the formation of a medical team to examine the allegations of medical negligence and submit a report. Appropriate legal action will be taken after the report is received.
