Bangalore, Mar 13: Six employees of the State Government can look forward to a possibly hefty pay hike with the Pay Commission headed by Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Subir Hari Singh submitting its report to the State Government.

Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, who is scheduled to present the State’s annual budget for the year 2012-13 on March 21, is expected to announce the government’s decision on the pay panel’s recommendations.

Incidentally, this will be the first budget being presented by the Chief Minister in the State Legislative Assembly.

The Pay Commission was set up last year by the previous Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa following the demands by the government employees to recommend ways to remove anomalies between the pay scales of the State and Union Government employees, subsequent to the implementation of the Sixth Pay commission by the Centre.

Office-bearers of the Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association have been alleging that the State Government was discriminating against its employees by not paying them the Sixth Pay Commission salaries and allowances while implementing it in respect of the IAS, IPS and IFS officers.
