New Delhi, May 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to distribute more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly selected candidates across various government ministries and organisations during the 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela on Saturday.

The event will take place through video conferencing, during which the Prime Minister will also interact with and address the newly recruited candidates.

The Rozgar Mela initiative was launched as part of the Centre’s broader push to accelerate employment generation and streamline government recruitment. Since the programme began, nearly 12 lakh appointment letters have been issued through 18 editions conducted nationwide.

This edition of the Rozgar Mela will be organised simultaneously at 47 venues across the country. The selected candidates come from different regions of India and will take up roles in several central government departments, including the Ministries of Railways, Home Affairs, and Health and Family Welfare, along with the Department of Financial Services and the Department of Higher Education.

During the previous Rozgar Mela held in January, PM Modi had reiterated the government’s focus on empowering young people through skill development, employment, and self-employment opportunities. He described the Rozgar Mela as an initiative designed to place public sector recruitment in mission mode, adding that it has evolved into a major platform connecting lakhs of youth with government jobs.

Highlighting India’s demographic strength, the Prime Minister had said the country remains one of the youngest nations globally and that continuous efforts are being made to create opportunities for Indian youth both within the country and abroad.

He had also referred to international trade and mobility agreements signed with various nations, saying these partnerships were opening new career pathways for young Indians.

PM Modi further underlined the role of large-scale infrastructure investments in boosting employment, particularly in sectors linked to construction and development. He also noted the rapid growth of India’s startup ecosystem, stating that nearly two lakh registered startups are currently generating jobs for over 21 lakh young people.

Emphasising the impact of the Digital India initiative, the Prime Minister had remarked that India is emerging as a global centre for animation, digital media, and several technology-driven industries, creating fresh economic opportunities for the younger generation.
