Washington, May 25: Donald Trump has signalled renewed efforts to secure a deal with Iran even as he continued warning Tehran of possible fresh military strikes if negotiations fail.
Speaking amid ongoing diplomatic discussions involving regional mediators, Trump said talks with Iran were moving forward and that negotiators were “getting a lot closer” to an agreement aimed at ending the conflict and reopening the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
In a social media post, Trump said an agreement had been “largely negotiated” and indicated that final details were under discussion. He added that the deal would either become a “great deal for all” or there would be “no deal at all”.

However, Trump also maintained a tough stance, warning that the US could launch further attacks if Iran failed to agree to acceptable terms. He recently said he had come close to ordering another strike before deciding to allow more time for negotiations.
Iranian officials confirmed that progress had been made on several issues under discussion but denied that a final agreement was imminent. Esmaeil Baghaei said conclusions had been reached on many topics, though nuclear negotiations would be addressed separately if an initial framework agreement is achieved.
According to reports, the proposed understanding focuses on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, easing maritime restrictions, ending hostilities and later beginning negotiations on Iran’s nuclear programme.
The diplomatic push comes amid growing regional concern over the economic fallout from disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route. Oil prices dropped sharply on Monday following optimism surrounding the talks.
Meanwhile, reports suggested that Benjamin Netanyahu has privately acknowledged that Israel now has limited influence over Trump’s handling of the Iran conflict and negotiations.
