Bilaspur, May 26: A woman was arrested in Bilaspur after she allegedly attacked her husband with a sickle while he was asleep over suspicions of an extramarital affair, police said.
The victim, identified as Rajesh Kaushik, who works as a mason, was admitted to the state-run SIMS Hospital in critical condition. Doctors said he is undergoing treatment.
According to police, the couple had been facing frequent domestic disputes for a long time, with the accused woman, Draupati Bai, suspecting her husband of having a relationship with another woman.

Police said the couple had dinner together on the night of the incident before going to sleep. Late at night, the woman allegedly attacked Rajesh with a sickle while he was asleep, causing severe injuries.
Bleeding heavily, the injured man reportedly ran out of the room screaming for help, alerting family members. His minor son woke up on hearing the cries and informed relatives, following which the family rushed Rajesh to hospital.
Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and took the accused woman into custody.
During preliminary questioning, recurring domestic disputes and suspicion over an alleged affair emerged as the suspected motive behind the attack.
A case has been registered against the accused woman and further investigation is underway.
