Bangalore, Mar 15: Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj has clarified that he is not planning to file a special leave petition (SLP) before the Supreme Court against the clean chit given by the Karnataka High Court’s division bench to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

''This (the news regarding Raj Bhavan filing a special leave petition) is wrong information. The Governor does not enter into litigation,” Bhardwaj said.

He was talking to reporters after participating in the inaugural session of a three-day summit on nutraceuticals, functional foods and dietary supplements in Bangalore on Thursday.

''The Raj Bhavan has its duties and responsibilities clearly defined. We don’t step in like the drop of a hat. The Governor’s office will always act in accordance with the Constitutional mandate,” he said.

The division bench of the Karnataka High Court had recently quashed the sanction granted by the Governor to prosecute Yeddyurappa on corruption charges.

The Governor’s silence on the issue has perplexed the BJP, which is facing pressure from the Yeddyurappa camp to reinstate him as chief minister in the wake of the court giving him a clean chit.
