Hyderabad, Jun 26: Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday urged citizens to join hands in combating drug abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free society on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
In his message, Governor Shukla described drug abuse as a serious threat to individuals, families and society, and appealed to people, particularly the youth, to adopt a healthy and responsible lifestyle.

He called upon citizens to actively contribute towards achieving the vision of a "Drug-free Telangana, Drug-free India."
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said narcotics not only ruin the lives of individuals and families but also create significant law and order challenges. Stressing the need for collective responsibility, he urged citizens to remain vigilant and support efforts to curb drug abuse and illegal drug trafficking.
The Chief Minister also appealed to society to encourage positive thinking among young people and participate in the state's mission to eliminate drug abuse.
Marking the occasion, Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar flagged off a 2-km awareness run at the district headquarters in Vikarabad to spread the message against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
