New Delhi, Jun 27: The Congress on Friday criticised the Centre over the alleged delay in recognising the sacrifice of six armed forces personnel who lost their lives during Operation Sindoor, nearly a year after the Pahalgam terror attack.
Congress leader Pawan Khera said it was “shameful” that a government which frequently highlights nationalism had allegedly failed to give due recognition to the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice.
The names of six personnel — five from the Indian Army and one from the Indian Air Force — have now been inscribed on the Tyag Chakra wall at the National War Memorial as a tribute to their service. This is the first official public release of the names of those who died during Operation Sindoor in May 2025.

Operation Sindoor was launched by India following the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam terror attack.
In a post on X, Khera named the six personnel and said they were the “brave sons of India” who sacrificed their lives while defending the nation’s honour and protecting citizens after the terror attack.
“Their names should have been etched into the national consciousness. Their families should have seen a grateful nation honouring their sacrifice. Instead, for an entire year, the BJP government chose to conceal their martyrdom from the nation,” Khera said.
He added that a government which “wraps itself in the flag and speaks endlessly of nationalism” had denied the heroes the recognition and remembrance they deserved.
The names inscribed on Wall No. 3D of the Tyag Chakra at the National War Memorial are Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, Rifleman Sunil Kumar, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, Agniveer Mood Muralinaik, Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh of the Army, and Sergeant Surendra Kumar of the Indian Air Force.
The units of the personnel have also been mentioned on the memorial. Sources said the names were added recently and have also been published on the National War Memorial website.
