Tirupati, Jun 28: The Pulse Polio immunisation drive began in Tirupati on Sunday, with polio drops being administered to children below five years of age at 1,937 centres across the district.

Health officials said the initiative aims to ensure complete protection of young children against poliovirus and urged parents to bring all eligible children to the nearest vaccination centres.

The special immunisation programme is being conducted through government health facilities and designated centres, with medical teams deployed to administer the oral polio vaccine.

Officials stressed that even children who have received previous doses should be brought for vaccination as part of the campaign to maintain protection and support India’s efforts towards a polio-free status.

Health authorities have appealed to parents and guardians to make use of the opportunity and ensure that no child below five years is left out of the drive.
