Mumbai, Jun 28: Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has revealed that the acclaimed soundtrack of his 2006 film Ankahee came together with remarkable ease, recalling that composer Pritam completed the music within a week after just two meetings.

The director, who is currently receiving positive feedback for his latest release Haunted 3D, reflected on the making of Ankahee during a conversation with IANS while promoting the film in Mumbai.

Looking back at the creative process, Vikram said there was no prolonged brainstorming or struggle involved in composing the music, as Pritam already had several melodies prepared before work on the film began.

"We met only twice. Pritam had most of the tunes ready. These were compositions he had already worked on. Then lyricist Sameer and I sat together to develop the lyrics around those tunes. The entire music was ready in about a week," he said.

The filmmaker described the experience as one where quality music emerged naturally without the usual creative challenges.

"It wasn't one of those projects where we had to fight for every song or spend months creating the soundtrack. It was simply good music that came together effortlessly," Vikram added.

Released two decades ago, Ankahee featured Aftab Shivdasani, Ameesha Patel and Esha Deol, and its soundtrack went on to become one of the film's biggest highlights, earning widespread appreciation from audiences.

During the interaction, Vikram also spoke about what motivates him to make films, comparing the creative instincts of filmmakers to the excitement of a child eager to share something special.

He said every film begins with an idea that the filmmaker is passionate about communicating to the audience.

Drawing an analogy, Vikram explained that a filmmaker resembles a child rushing to tell their mother about something exciting. Sometimes the listener responds with amazement, while at other times the reaction may be indifferent, but the desire to share the story remains the driving force behind the creative process.

According to the director, that sense of excitement is essential for storytelling, adding that a filmmaker should only embark on a project when there is genuine enthusiasm to present something meaningful and engaging to the audience.
