Amaravati, Jun 29: Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday urged the state's farmers to remain determined in the face of weather-related challenges, particularly the impact of the El Niño phenomenon, as the Kharif cultivation season gets underway.
Extending his greetings on the occasion of Eruvaka Pournami, the traditional festival that marks the beginning of agricultural operations, the Chief Minister said the day reflects the deep-rooted relationship between farmers, nature, livestock and the land. He called upon cultivators to preserve this heritage while embracing sustainable farming practices.

In his message, Naidu noted that Eruvaka Pournami, observed on Jyeshtha Shuddha Pournami, is a significant occasion when farmers worship Mother Earth and their livestock before commencing cultivation. He wished for plentiful harvests and prosperity for every farming family across the state.
Highlighting the importance of eco-friendly agriculture, the Chief Minister encouraged farmers to adopt natural farming methods to improve soil fertility and protect public health. He reaffirmed that the coalition government remains committed to strengthening the agriculture sector through timely support and farmer-centric initiatives.
Naidu pointed out that financial assistance under the PM Kisan–Annadatha Sukhibhava programme has already been transferred to eligible farmers, demonstrating the government's commitment to standing by the farming community. He also expressed confidence that farmers would successfully overcome the challenges posed by El Niño and global economic uncertainties by following scientific advisories and government recommendations.
Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu, who visited the Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada, offered special prayers seeking timely rainfall, abundant crop production and improved incomes for farmers during the Kharif season.
The minister assured farmers that sufficient stocks of seeds and fertilizers have been arranged across the state and there is no reason for concern regarding input availability. He said all necessary preparations for the Kharif season have been completed and that the government is fully prepared to extend every possible assistance to cultivators.
Reiterating that farmer welfare remains the government's top priority, Atchannaidu urged the farming community to face the uncertainties associated with El Niño with confidence and assured them of continuous government support.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also extended his greetings on Eruvaka Pournami, describing it as a festival that celebrates the enduring bond between people, nature, Mother Earth and livestock. He said the occasion symbolizes hope and gratitude as farmers begin another agricultural cycle.
He prayed for timely and adequate rainfall, expressing hope that the coming season would bring abundant harvests and prosperity to farming households across Andhra Pradesh.
Pawan Kalyan reiterated the coalition government's commitment to the welfare of farmers and the overall growth of the agriculture sector. He said the direct transfer of the first instalment under the PM Kisan–Annadatha Sukhibhava scheme reflects that commitment, adding that the government is also working on future development initiatives aimed at improving rural infrastructure and creating long-term benefits for the farming community.
