Loretto Central School marks National Doctors' Day with health awareness programme

Bantwal, Jul 1: Loretto Central School observed National Doctors' Day on July 1st with a special programme to honour the dedication and selfless service of the medical fraternity. The programme was graced by the presence of the principal, Fr Jason Vijay Monis, and the vice principal, Anitha Pais. Dr Chinmayee R Hebbar, MBBS, MS (ENT), Father Muller's Hospital, Thumbay, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

The programme commenced with a prayer song by the school choir group.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Chinmayee R Hebbar spoke about the importance of adopting healthy habits from an early age. She actively interacted with the students by asking simple questions about their food choices, encouraging them to choose fruits and other nutritious foods instead of junk food. She advised students to spend more time playing outdoor games rather than using mobile phones, get adequate sleep, and take care of their mental health by sharing their concerns with parents or teachers. She also demonstrated the correct method of washing hands and highlighted five essential habits for a healthy life eating healthy food, exercising regularly, maintaining cleanliness, getting sufficient sleep, and drinking plenty of water.

Principal Fr Jason Vijay Monis reminded students that health is the greatest wealth and cannot be bought with money. He encouraged them to avoid junk food, develop healthy eating habits, and ensure proper sleep. Stressing that mental health and physical health go hand in hand, he inspired students to dream of becoming compassionate doctors.

Students presented a vibrant cultural programme, expressing their gratitude and respect for doctors through their performances.

Lyvia of grade IX highlighted the significance of the day, focusing on the life and legacy of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, whose birth and death anniversary is observed as National Doctors' Day in India.

Sherlyn Samantha welcomed the gathering. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Sierra of grade V. The programme was compered by Krithika of grade IX.
