New Delhi, Jul 4: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday announced that the Monsoon Session of Parliament will be held from July 20 to August 13, with the government aiming to hold extensive discussions and take decisions on matters of national importance.
Making the announcement on X, Rijiju said that Droupadi Murmu had approved the government's recommendation to summon both Houses of Parliament. He added that the four-week session would focus on "meaningful debate, discussion and decisions" on key national issues.

The session will comprise 19 sittings.
The upcoming session is expected to witness changes in the political composition of Parliament following recent developments within several opposition parties. Internal divisions in the All India Trinamool Congress, differences between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Indian National Congress, and the exit of several MPs from Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) are expected to alter the balance of strength in both Houses.
The ruling National Democratic Alliance is expected to improve its numbers, while the opposition INDIA bloc could see a decline in its strength.
During the session, Om Birla is expected to decide on the proposed merger of 20 rebel Trinamool Congress MPs with the NCPI, as well as the merger of six MPs from the Uddhav Sena faction with Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena.
Separately, after the Congress entered into an alliance with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu, the DMK has reportedly written to the Lok Sabha Speaker seeking separate seating arrangements for its MPs instead of sharing benches with Congress members.
On the legislative front, the government is expected to prioritise the 131st Constitution Amendment Bill relating to women's reservation and delimitation after it failed to secure passage in the previous session.
Another major proposal likely to be introduced is the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill, which seeks to provide for the automatic removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and ministers from office if they remain detained or in judicial custody for 30 consecutive days in cases involving serious criminal offences.
The Centre is also expected to push forward the One Nation, One Election Bill, along with several other important legislations, including the FCRA Bill, Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, and the Anti-Doping Bill.
In addition, Parliament may consider legislation to replace the ordinance increasing the sanctioned strength of judges in the Supreme Court of India, besides bills relating to the Code on Wages Central Rules, Corporate Law, and the Securities Market Code.
