New Delhi, Jul 6: Health and nutrition are increasingly influencing food choices among Indian consumers, with 86 per cent preferring protein-rich snacks and products made from natural ingredients, according to a new consumer insights report.
The report found that consumers are becoming more conscious of the nutritional value of their food and are actively seeking healthier snacking options that offer both convenience and functional benefits.
Protein has emerged as a key purchase driver, with a majority of consumers opting for high-protein snacks to support fitness, weight management and overall well-being.

The findings also highlighted a growing preference for clean-label products, with buyers paying closer attention to ingredient lists and favouring foods made with natural ingredients and minimal processing.
Transparency in product labelling has become another important factor influencing purchasing decisions, as consumers increasingly seek clear information about nutritional content, ingredient sourcing and manufacturing practices.
The report noted that the shift reflects a broader trend in India's food and beverage market, where demand is rising for healthier alternatives to traditional packaged snacks.
Industry experts believe the growing focus on preventive healthcare, rising fitness awareness and increasing consumer education about nutrition are driving demand for functional and better-for-you food products.
The report suggests that manufacturers are responding by expanding their portfolios of protein-rich, natural and clean-label products to meet evolving consumer preferences.
