Panaji, Jul 6: Two separate incidents involving elderly residents were reported in Goa, with a 76-year-old woman found dead at her residence in South Goa and an 81-year-old man succumbing to injuries sustained in a fall.
In the first incident, the body of 76-year-old Sebastine Fernandes, a resident of Sirlim in Dramapur, Salcete, was found in a decomposed state inside her home. According to police, preliminary enquiries indicate that she had been living alone.

The incident came to light after a neighbour discovered the body and alerted the police. Authorities shifted the remains to the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) in Margao, where they have been preserved for medico-legal examination. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding her death.
In a separate case, 81-year-old Chandrakant Taluvenekar of Varconda in Pernem died while undergoing treatment at the male ward of South Goa District Hospital.
Police said initial enquiries revealed that Taluvenekar had been admitted to the hospital after reportedly slipping and falling in the washroom of a flat in Ambaji, Fatorda, owned by his nephew, Chandan Naik. Family members informed investigators that the elderly man suffered head injuries in the fall.
His body has also been kept at the South Goa District Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Further investigation into the incident is being conducted by PSI Sanil Sawant Dessai of the Fatorda Police Station.
