Delhi HC orders restoration of CJP's X account

New Delhi, Jul 7: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed the restoration of the X account of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) after the Union government informed the court that it had no objection to unblocking the account.

Appearing for the Centre, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that the government's primary concern behind blocking the account was that its posts could create confusion and chaos among students and parents during the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

Since the examination has now concluded, the Centre said its earlier apprehensions were no longer relevant.

Taking note of the government's stand, a bench of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma allowed the petition filed by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke seeking restoration of the social media account.

According to legal news portal Live Law, the court observed that the Centre's principal concern had ceased to exist as the NEET examination was over.

Dipke had challenged the government's order blocking the X account, contending that it had been withheld on grounds of national security. The Centre's decision to withdraw its objection paved the way for the court to order the account's restoration.
