Srinagar, Jul 8: Three personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) sustained injuries after their vehicle was struck by another vehicle in the Nowgam area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Wednesday. Police have arrested the driver allegedly involved in the accident.
According to police, the CRPF personnel were deployed on security duty for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra near the Taingan Bypass in Nowgam. The injured personnel are attached to D Company of the CRPF's 148th Battalion.

A police official said the driver responsible for the collision was taken into custody soon after the incident. The injured troopers were rushed to Ujala Cygnus Hospital in Nowgam, where they are undergoing treatment.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the accident.
The incident comes just days after another mishap involving CRPF personnel during Amarnath Yatra deployment. Last week, seven troopers were injured near the Sonamarg tunnel in Ganderbal district after the driver of their vehicle reportedly lost control, causing it to skid off the road. All the injured personnel were provided first aid at the scene.
The CRPF plays a key role in securing the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), the main route used by pilgrims travelling to the annual Amarnath Yatra.
As part of the extensive security arrangements for the pilgrimage, the force has deployed personnel along the highway and at key locations, including the Baltal and Pahalgam base camps. It also provides security at transit camps in Mirbazar, Saidpora and Manigam in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police to ensure the safe movement of pilgrims.
