Tourist suspected missing after jumping from Old Mandovi bridge in Goa

Panaji, Jul 11: A man, believed to be a tourist, is missing after allegedly jumping from the old Mandovi bridge in Goa on Friday evening, prompting an extensive search operation by emergency responders.

According to police, authorities were alerted to the incident through a call received at around 6.30 p.m. Personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services joined the police in searching the Mandovi River soon after.

Despite hours of search efforts, the man could not be located by late Friday night. His identity has not yet been established, and officials said the operation will resume on Saturday during daylight hours to improve visibility.

The incident took place during the evening rush hour, leading to traffic congestion on the bridge as rescue teams carried out the search.

Police noted that this is the second reported case of a person jumping from the old Mandovi bridge in less than a month. Further investigation is underway.
