Mapusa, Jul 12: A bookshop in Mapusa was burgled in the early hours of Friday, with unidentified persons allegedly decamping with around Rs 65,000 in cash, adding to a series of recent break-ins reported in the town.

According to preliminary information, the accused allegedly forced their way into the shop before stealing the cash and fleeing the scene.

After receiving information about the incident, Mapusa Police reached the spot and carried out a preliminary investigation. A case has been registered, and efforts are underway to identify and trace those responsible.

The latest burglary comes amid a string of reported thefts in Mapusa, raising concerns among local residents and traders over the increasing number of break-ins. Police said further investigation into the case is in progress.
