Agra, Jul 12: The Railways has suspended five Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and ordered a high-level inquiry following a confrontation between RPF personnel and a Deputy Station Superintendent at Agra Cantt railway station over the halting of the Hirakund Express to assist an injured passenger.
According to railway officials, the dispute began after information was received that a passenger on board the Hirakund Express had sustained injuries. The Deputy Station Superintendent decided to keep the train stationed at the platform to facilitate assistance to the passenger.

The decision allegedly led to an argument with RPF personnel, which soon escalated into a physical confrontation.
The Deputy Station Superintendent alleged that RPF personnel pushed him to the ground, assaulted him and attempted to drag him away from the station. He claimed he was beaten and lifted by his arms and legs despite objections from other railway officials present at the scene.
However, RPF constable Jitendra also accused the Deputy Station Superintendent of assault, with both sides levelling allegations of physical violence against each other.
Railway authorities said CCTV footage from the station is being examined to ascertain the sequence of events.
Taking serious note of the incident, the Railways constituted a three-member inquiry committee comprising the Assistant Security Commissioner (ASC), Agra Cantt, the Station Director of Agra Cantt, and the Assistant Operations Manager (AOM), Agra.
Pending the inquiry, RPF Inspector Surendra Chaudhary, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Meghraj Meena and Balkishan, and constables Jitendra and Badan Singh have been suspended with immediate effect.
Railway officials said the committee is conducting a detailed investigation, and further departmental or legal action will be taken based on its findings. The probe will determine the circumstances that led to the confrontation and whether any officials exceeded their authority during the incident.
