Dholpur, Jul 13: A 75-year-old woman died while undergoing treatment after 11 members of a family allegedly fell ill due to suspected food poisoning from consuming leftover food served at a birthday celebration in Rajasthan's Dholpur district, police said on Monday.
According to officials, a birthday function was held at a house in Lula Ka Pura village on Jul 7. Food prepared for the celebration was consumed on the day of the event and again the following day.
On Jul 9, 11 family members developed symptoms of suspected food poisoning and were admitted to the district hospital.

A police official said 75-year-old Triveni died during treatment on Jul 12. A post-mortem examination is being conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Family member Mahesh Kushwaha said paneer curry had been prepared for his niece's birthday celebration. After the function, the leftover curry was consumed by family members the next day.
Soon afterwards, several relatives complained of vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and restlessness. They were immediately taken to the district hospital for treatment.
The affected family members have been identified as Raunak, Seema, Pinki, Poonam, Anushka, Triveni, Sunita, Lucky, Nitin, Satish and Pancham Singh. All were admitted to the district hospital, where they continue to receive treatment.
District Hospital Principal Medical Officer Dr Samarveer Singh said all 11 patients were admitted with complaints of abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhoea after reportedly consuming paneer served during the birthday function and the leftover curry the following day.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The exact cause of the suspected food poisoning will be determined after medical investigations and the post-mortem report are completed.
