Kejriwal seeks PM meeting over E20 petrol concerns

New Delhi, Jul 14: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday sought an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss concerns surrounding E20 petrol, urging the Centre to offer consumers the option of purchasing either pure petrol or ethanol-blended fuel at filling stations.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Kejriwal said he wished to explain the technical issues related to E20 petrol and share the feedback he had received from the public during the proposed meeting.

He said petrol pumps should provide consumers with a choice between pure petrol and E20 petrol.

"If someone wants pure petrol, they should get that option, and those wanting E20 should also have that choice," Kejriwal said.

The former Delhi chief minister said he decided to write to the Prime Minister after interacting with people and understanding their concerns regarding the use of E20 petrol.

Kejriwal also urged the Centre to reduce the price of E20 petrol, arguing that ethanol-blended fuel delivers lower mileage than regular petrol and should therefore be sold at a lower cost.

He said the AAP had launched an online petition inviting citizens to share their experiences with E20 petrol, particularly regarding mileage and other issues.

Appealing to people to participate in large numbers, Kejriwal said the responses collected through the campaign would be submitted to the Prime Minister during the proposed meeting.

Expressing hope that Prime Minister Modi would grant him an appointment soon, Kejriwal also asked party workers and supporters to visit petrol pumps and service centres, interact with consumers and share their experiences through videos on social media platforms.
