Srinagar, Aug 9: At least 26 locations were jointly raided by investigation agencies and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Sunday as part of a crackdown on a suspected terror-linked network.

The coordinated searches were carried out across Sopore city following registration of a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).

The raids were aimed at uncovering the activities of an alleged underground network associated with the proscribed outfit.

Earlier this year, on May 25, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted multiple raids across the Kashmir Valley as part of a terror-funding probe linked to JeI.

Several educational institutions and the residence of a former chief of the proscribed organisation were searched during the operation.

The May raids were conducted at three locations in Srinagar and Shopian districts. Investigators recovered several incriminating financial documents and electronic gadgets suspected to be linked to the activities of JeI and its associated trusts and organisations in Jammu and Kashmir.
