Kanpur, Aug 27: Two pilots were killed after a twin-engine training aircraft crashed near Nattha Purwa village along the Ganga here on Thursday afternoon.

According to preliminary information, the aircraft had two pilots on board when it crashed during a training flight. The aircraft reportedly exploded with a loud bang before losing control and crashing near the village.

One of the pilots died at the spot, while the second was rescued from the wreckage in critical condition. He was shifted to a hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

The crash triggered panic among residents, who rushed to the spot after hearing the explosion. Smoke and debris were seen scattered around the crash site.

Police and administrative officials reached the spot after receiving information and launched rescue and relief operations. The area was cordoned off to prevent people from approaching the wreckage.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Officials are examining whether a technical malfunction or any other factor led to the incident.
