Mumbai, Sep 3: Mumbai Traffic Police have announced temporary traffic restrictions in Bandra and Ghatkopar on September 5 in view of Dahi Handi celebrations and large gatherings expected in the areas.

In Bandra, traffic restrictions will be in force from 5 pm to 11 pm on Saturday. A Dahi Handi programme is being organised on Jarimari Road under the Bandra Traffic Division, with the expected gathering likely to affect vehicular movement.

Motorists travelling south on SV Road towards Hill Road via Jarimari Road will not be permitted to enter Jarimari Road during the restriction period. They will have to take a U-turn at Vitthal Mandir Signal, proceed north on SV Road and turn left onto Dr V Raghunath Marg. Vehicles can then continue towards St Martin Road and reach Hill Road.

A longer traffic restriction will be in place in Ghatkopar. The south channel of the Andheri-Ghatkopar Link Road between Shreyas Junction and Bhimnagar Junction will remain closed to all vehicles from 7 am to 11.30 pm on September 5.

The closure has been imposed in view of a major Dahi Handi event at Tilak Wadi, Sainath Nagar, in Ghatkopar West. Authorities expect the gathering to disrupt traffic movement in the surrounding areas.

Commuters travelling from Shreyas Junction towards Asalpha will have to take an alternative route via the south channel of Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg. They will then turn right at Sarvodaya Junction and proceed through Hirachand Desai Road towards Asalpha before rejoining the Andheri-Ghatkopar Link Road.

Traffic Police have advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance and follow the designated diversion routes during the restrictions.
