Media Release

Mangaluru, Oct 24: St Theresa School organised a career guidance programme for the students of class 10 and their parents on October 24, with the objective of helping students make informed decisions about their academic streams and future career pathways after secondary education.

The programme commenced with a prayer led by Roopa, invoking the blessings of the Almighty. Sr Lourdes, principal of the school, warmly welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of career guidance in helping students recognise their potential and make choices aligned with their interests, abilities and aspirations.

During the programme, the principal also informed parents and students about the changes in the board examination timings, ensuring that they were aware of the revised schedule and the importance of making the necessary adjustments to their preparations.

The programme featured two distinguished resource persons who shared their expertise and professional insights with the gathering. Abhimanyu Thomar, an accomplished educationist and alumnus of NIT Delhi, emphasised the importance of identifying individual strengths, interests and aptitudes while choosing a career. He highlighted how appropriate mentoring and guidance can positively influence students' academic journeys and help shape their future.

The second resource person, Lakshmi Vishwanath, a chartered accountant with professional experience in the banking sector and chartered accountancy practice, provided valuable insights into career opportunities in commerce, finance and taxation. Drawing from her expertise in GST compliance and litigation, she helped students and parents gain a broader understanding of the diverse professional avenues available to them.

An interactive question-and-answer session enabled students and parents to clarify their doubts and seek guidance on academic choices and career prospects. The discussion encouraged students to reflect on their interests, abilities and ambitions before making important decisions about their future.

Adding a personal and reassuring dimension to the initiative, the school correspondent, Sr Shaila, emphasised the importance of understanding each student's individual needs and aspirations. She expressed her willingness to counsel students who may require additional guidance and support in making their academic and career choices. Her assurance reaffirmed the school's commitment to providing individual attention and nurturing the holistic development of every learner.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to the management, resource persons, Sr Shaila, the correspondent, Sr Lourdes, the principal, and the vice-principal for their valuable support and commitment to student development. Mementoes were presented to the resource persons as a token of appreciation.

The career guidance programme proved to be an informative and enriching initiative, reinforcing the importance of informed decision-making, individual aptitude and timely guidance in shaping students' futures.
